ruins style

I have recently found pictures in a magazine that I feel fit with my work very as the background looks very “ruined” and deserted. From this I have decided to look at urban exploration to try to find modern ruins to compare with the castle ruins I researched first.

acrylic jewellery.

I have decided to look closer at the possibility of making jewellery using long strips of acrylic to replicate long bricks that I have take photos of at housesteads.

canvas

I have produced a canvas which is my interpretation of one of Goldsworthy’s pieces using paint and papier mache to raise some of the stones. i started by painting the background a different shade of brown but this was unsuccessful as there was no clear difference between the stones and the background so i painted the background a blue/grey which i feel looks like a rough sea. i feel this is successful but if i were to do it again i would make the stones more raised up to make the difference between them more obvious.

andy goldsworthy.

I have looked at Andy Goldsworthy and really liked the spiral pieces he has done and would like to use these as a pattern in my work. I have done a range of spiral samples using different techniques such as couching, paper mache, embroidery and print using string on cardboard.

sculptures.

I have looked into rock sculptures in order to inspire me to create a more sculptural piece instead of something traditional that could be found in a high street shop.

stones.

after looking at ruins I have looked closer at stones which I would like to use in my work in order to make a more detailed piece of work. I would like to create stones using a range of techniques, such as salt dough, clay and papier mache. I would then like to use them to make jewellery or other accessories.
