final piece.

for my final piece i decided to create another dress using a short bodice and different strips of fabric hanging from the top. i wanted to make this reflect the most inspiring aspects of my project and feel it has been successful. first i produced the bodice using a black fabric and burning holes into it, then created a lining using brown linen, allowing the brown fabric to be seen through the holes. i created four different sheets of fabric using different techniques to make up the strips for my skirt. i started by re-producing the bleached tie-dye and feel it was more successful this time as i used a black linen and there is a more detailed pattern, which reflects the rust aspect of my project. i then created a sheet where i couched spiral patterns using a different fabric, the remnants of an old skirt, and a piece of wool i found which i feel reflects my research into andy goldsworthy. i also created an applique piece using different pieces of fabric to create a collage which i feel reflects my initial research into castle ruins as there are different sized pieces of fabric, like the bricks in the castle walls. finally i created a piece where i sewed a white sheet of fabric to a coffee-stained fabric in lines in order to try create a cracked wall effect but i feel this hasn't been as successful as some of my other samples or my interpretations of cracked walls in my sketchbook.
